"Remagen" Wikipedia (via DBPedia)

Remagen is a town in Germany in Rhineland-Palatinate, in the district of Ahrweiler. It is about a one hour drive from Cologne (Köln), just south of Bonn, the former West-German capital. It is situated on the River Rhine. There is a ferry across the Rhine from Remagen every 10–15 minutes in the summer. Remagen has many beautiful and well-maintained buildings, churches, castles, and monuments. It also has a sizeable pedestrian zone with plenty of shops. Overlooking the west bank of the Rhine just north of the city centre is the Apollinariskirche. It has a great observation deck that is only open to parishioners on Sundays. Pedestrians reach the church via a dirt trail that passes a series of roadside monuments representing each of the fourteen Stations of the Cross. The church grounds contain an outdoor crypt and an abbey. Further down the river is one of the many castles along the River Rhine, perched even higher than the Apollinariskirche.

A rar file is a compressed file that needs to be unpacked to get the movie. the free 7Zip will do that. After install, right-click a rar file in the download and select 7Zip and extract. Any rar files in the download should all extract and reveal the movie. http://www.7-zip.org/

Yes, a bridge was bombed by the Germans in 1945, after it had been captured by Allied troops who needed to capture bridges over the Rhine for the occupation of Germany. Hitler was infuriated by this action.

Ok, if these are your potential starting points to go back to cologne on the KD boat, I would definitely start in Konigswinter, which is just across the rhine from bonn. There is the famous "Drachenfelsbahn" (meaning Dragonmountain train) which you can take up the hill, to go to the beautiful dragon castle. Here are the links to the train: http://www.drachenfelsbahn-koenigswinter.de/index.php?id=118 and the castle (german only unfortunately - just press "Rundgang" and you will see some pictures): http://www.schloss-drachenburg.de/ Re. the train: the train is fine, the direct trains from Cologne main to Konigswinter take only about 35min. from there you can either walk over to the "drachenfelsbahn" or take a cab. As I live in Cologne and work in Bonn and drive that route every morning so I could also offer you to give you a lift (unless you have a big family as I have fairly small car). Just msg me if you need any other information.

Yes. Also wasn't the "A bridge too far" with Robert Redford about the same event, cir: 1976.
